Juventus vs. Manchester United
Juve and United of group H will be facing off for the second time at Juventus’ home stadium.
Juventus has an incredibly strong team. They are currently on top of the Serie A table, quite a few points ahead of their closest contenders, Napoli. Since 2011, they’ve won the league seven times in a row. They’ve always fallen slightly short of the Champions League title, but this year might prove to be different, now that they’ve got Ronaldo on their side.
Manchester United, although a great team, have dipped considerably over their last few seasons under Jose Mourinho and they’re currently 8th on the Premier League table. Last year’s group stage didn’t fare well for the Red Devils.
In all probability, Juventus will win this one.
Napoli vs. PSG
Group C has some strong contenders, and both teams are undeniably up there, in terms of talent.
Paris Saint-Germain won the Ligue 1 by a huge margin of points by a huge margin of points last season, making it their 5th win over the previous six seasons and overall, their 7th league win. This Champion’s league, with Kylian Mbappé, Edinson Cavani, and Neymar, they’re expected to do better than last season.
Napoli were runner-ups to Juventus last Serie A, and they’re a high scoring team. Last season, however, Napoli did not make it past the group stage. They lost a few key players and did not make adequate replacements. Yet, they do have a home advantage.
Based on current form, PSG will win.
Bayern Munich vs. AEK Athens
The two teams are in Group E, will face off for the second time this Champion League season.
Bayern is arguably one of the greatest clubs in all of European football right now, but they’re the best the Bundesliga has to offer. They have enjoyed an unbeaten start so far, winning against Benfica and AEK Athens and drawing the other with Ajax. They qualified for the semi-finals last year but narrowly lost to Real Madrid.
AEK Athens have never won a Champions League, but since they won Superleague Greece, the directly qualify for the 3rd round playoffs. But so far, the group stage hasn’t been looking great for them, as they’ve lost both matches they’ve played against Ajax and Benfica.
Out of the two, Bayer has the stronger squad, and will most likely emerge victoriously.
